Today, I’m going to share with you something I’m very excited about. Something I truly believe has an opportunity to change the fitness industry for the better. Before I tell you exactly what it is and why I’m so excited, let me first tell you about why I think it’s so important.
Over the last several years, I’ve become most known for working with combat athletes and helping people improve their conditioning. What most people don’t know, however, is that started my career in the strength and conditioning industry all the way back in the late ‘90’s while I was attending the University of Washington.
Like most people first getting started, I was extremely excited and eager to learn as much as I could…
I wanted to understand how the body really works, why some programs are more effective than others, and of course, how to help the athletes I was working with perform at the highest levels. I had so many questions I needed answers to.
The problem, however, was that I didn’t really know where to find the answers. Back then, there were only a handful of websites and discussion forums and I knew the popular fitness magazines weren’t exactly the resources I was looking for.
Fortunately, late one night while searching around online, I stumbled upon an obscure yahoo group called Supertraining.
I had no idea at the time, but that was the night that everything changed…
Back when I joined the Supertraining group, there were about 3,000 members worldwide. At the time, it seemed like a huge amount of people!
What I quickly learned was that the people on the Supertraining group were on a whole different level than I was at the time. There were PhD researchers and professors, strength coaches from teams all over the world, cutting-edge therapists, etc. and the group was led by a brilliant scientist, Mel Siff, PhD.
The discussions were about high level biomechanics, exercise physiology, nutrition, and literally every other related topic that you could think of.
More than half the time I felt like was in way over my head…but I loved it!
I discovered this whole new world of information that I had no idea even existed…
In short, the Supertraining group that I happened to accidentally stumble upon was, without question, one of the single greatest resources for human performance ever created. It was a community of countless brilliant minds, many of them world-renowned experts in their fields, all discussing and debating topics (there were definitely some heated arguments) purely out of a passion for education, not just for profit.
Once I started reading through as many discussions on the Supertraining group as I could – and there were literally thousands – I was able to quickly figure out who the real experts were and I started flying all over the world to go to as many of their seminars and workshops as I could.
I was even fortunate enough to be one of the few that got to spend some time with Dr. Mel Siff himself at his house in Colorado before he sadly passed away in 2003.
If you’ve ever read his book “Supertraining,” you know just how smart the guy was!
Fortunately, even though I was just getting started in the industry and I didn’t have much money, I did have family working for the airlines, so I was able to travel for much less expensive than most people.
I still invested thousands of dollars and who knows how many hundreds of hours traveling, but I knew it would pay off in the long run…and it certainly has.
The Problem Today
Looking back, I consider myself extremely lucky to have found the Supertraining group and to have been able to travel as much as I did to learn from as many people as possible.
When I get emails from people asking for advice on how to be successful in the fitness industry, the first thing I always tell them is to learn as much as possible from as many qualified experts in the field as possible.
While this is definitely sound advice, it’s actually become a lot harder today than it was when I was first getting started…
This is because despite the fact that we have so much information at our fingertips on the web, we also have so much misinformation that has come along with it.

From behind a keyboard, it’s often very difficult for people to tell the difference between the true experts from the ones that are just really good at pretending to be. See Brian Carroll’s article for a good discussion of this dilemma.
The truth is that a lot of the best experts out there are spending their time in the gym, on the field, or in the lab instead of writing books, articles and blog posts. I could name off at least 15-20 experts that almost nobody has ever heard of, but that are absolutely brilliant!
On top of this, the other big problem is that even when you do find great experts that are sharing their information through workshops and seminars, it’s often expensive to fly to their location, get a hotel, rental car, pay for food, pay for the seminar, etc.
For most people, spending the time and money to go to more than a couple of these events a year can be tough.
All this adds up to the problem that even though we’re in the digital age, it’s still very difficult to find and access the very best advice from the world’s leading experts in fitness, performance, health, wellness and injury prevention
Until now that is…
The BioForce Project
The BioForce Project is something that I’ve been slowly working on for many years, but until fairly recently, it simply wasn’t possible
The goal of the project is perfectly summed up by the site’s headline: “The world’s leading fitness and performance experts delivered to you.”
I’ve started to bring together the best top-level coaches, manual therapists, trainers, etc., and have worked with them to create the highest quality video courses possible on a variety of topics ranging from how to train football athletes to functional neurology and everything in between…
With the BioForce Project, you’ll be able to learn directly from a variety of true world experts ranging from the head Chiropractor for the Seattle Seahawks, a Powerlifting World Champion, an Olympic level ski racer, two Strongman World Champions, the Head Strength and Conditioning coach for the Arizona Cardinals, and many, many more…
These are people who have devoted their careers, and their lives for that matter, to their area of expertise. These are the sources of new and cutting-edge information, the movers and shakers behind the industry, i.e. experts you can trust.
With high speed internet and mobile devices making it easier to stream video than ever before, you’re now going to get access to this top-level content without having to travel all over the world and without having to spend thousands of dollars…
I created the BioForce Project to cut through the endless internet clutter of misinformation and bro science and give you access to truly world-class instructors.BioForce Project to cut through the endless internet clutter of misinformation and bro science and give you access to truly world-class instructors.&via=joeljamieson" class="tweet-this__button">tweet this
Just as you shouldn’t have to waste time trying to figure out if the information you’re reading online is written by a true expert or just an internet marketer, you also shouldn’t have to pay and arm and a leg for quality material.
I created the BioForce Project to cut through the endless internet clutter of misinformation and bro science and give you access to truly world-class instructors from the comfort of your own home for a reasonable price.
I’ve done the weeding out for you. I’ve twisted the arms of those I truly respect (those that I learn from myself) and convinced them to make their valuable knowledge accessible to you in a streaming video course that you can watch virtually anytime, anywhere.
Even better, when you take these courses, you’ll be able to interact with the instructors directly through discussion forums just like I used to do with the old Supertraining group.
The BioForce Project is guaranteed to make it easier and more affordable than ever to learn from the very best.
Coming July 14th
The BioForce Project will officially launch on July 14th with the first two courses: my own course on Team Sports Conditioning and a course by NFL Strength Coach Buddy Morris & Ryan Williams on Physical Preparation for American Football.
A lot of people have heard of Buddy Morris or even read one of the few articles he’s had the time to write, but this course is the first time he’s ever taken what he does and gone through it step-by-step on video for you to see
It’s an awesome course and a great introduction to what the BioForce Project is all about – connecting you to the real world experts!
After the initial launch, I’ll be launching new video courses each month on a variety of topics. This is just the beginning of something big, something that can truly change the way people learn how to get in shape and improve performance, conditioning, health, wellness, prevent injuries, etc.
The BioForce Project is a dynamic, living and breathing collaboration and a community of the best minds in fitness, all dedicated to advancing the collective knowledge of fitness and performance.
How to Join the Project
