Heading to UFC 91

I’ll be heading to Las Vegas for UFC 91 Friday morning to support Matt Brown and Jorge, so I might not have access to the site until Sunday. After the last main event in Chicago I was at when Spencer fought, I certainly hope the Randy vs. Lesnar fight turns out to be more entertaining. It’s an interesting match up between size, strength, and power vs. experience…

Personally, I think Randy has been in the game long enough to find a way to capitalize on any mistakes that Brock is inevitably going to make, so my prediction is Randy will get the win in the 3rd or 4th round. I just don’t think Brock can hold Randy down for 5 rounds straight and I don’t think his ground and pound is good enough to stop the fight unless it’s very early on. The one big question mark, however, is how will Randy look after not being in the octagon for over a year. There’s definitely a possibility the layoff will affect his performance and he’ll look rusty, but I would think after so many years fighting it should affect him a lot less than it could other people.

I talked to Randy for a few minutes backstage in Chicago during the weigh ins and he definitely seemed focus on the fight and said he was training hard for it. I remember several years back when he trained at my gym with Maurice his training seemed very focused, he didn’t waste time in the gym. There is no doubt he’s one of those athletes that is very self motivated and that’s certainly a big part of why he’s been as successful in the sport as he has.

If any of you will be at the UFC this weekend and end up at the after party for Matt or Jorge, I have no idea where it is yet unfortunatey, but I’m sure I will be there to be sure to stop by and say hi.

On another note, I’ve unfortunately been unable to spend as much time lately writing articles and getting new content on the site, but I have been busy working on the DVD and book and will have some announcements coming soon. I’m working together with Matt Hume to launch some products that anyone who trains in MMA would be crazy not to get.

We’re going to offer MMA training and strength and conditioning material unlike anything else that’s out there. You will soon see why Matt is known as “The Wizard” and you’ll get to learn first hand why he’s known as one of the best MMA coaches in the world (I personally don’t think there is anybody else out there better at preparing fighters than Matt). Together with the strength and conditioning material I’ll be presenting to the public for the first time, it’ll be a package you won’t want to miss and something everybody will be talking about. Stay tuned for more info coming soon.
